If there is one design trend I stick too in an ever changing world it’s texture. I can not stand when rooms don’t have texture. I think this is why I am such a huge lover of shiplap because it instantly adds this beautiful texture element to your room and then you can truly keep the rest simple. When I decided to remodel Noelle’s bedroom I knew I wanted some of that in her room. I originally was going to stick to my no fail shiplap but she’s such a girly girl I wanted something pretty and something that was easy to remove (because girlfriends style is always changing, okay okay mine is too). Wallpaper is a dirty word in our house because when my husband bought it there was carpet like wallpaper in all 3700 sqft and that is not an lie. Getting him on board was going to be a challenge until I started looking at removable wallpaper from Coloray Decor.
But is removable wallpaper worth the hype?
Short answer? Yes! 100% yes. Dominika is the owner for Coloray Decor and creates the most beautiful prints you will ever lay your eyes on. She sent ours in 4 sheets for Noelles bedroom wall and as intimidated as I was to hang it, it truly wasn’t bad. I enlisted the help of Matt and we got it down in about 45 minutes. If you screw up it’s easy to pull off and fix. How do I know this you ask? Well because we started with the wrong piece and didn’t notice until we were on the final piece, yep not my finest moment but it was midnight in my defense.
Tips for hanging it.
Like I said she sent it in 4 pieces and it was cut to fit the wall exactly, which made life easier. I did however learn a few tips I feel like I should pass along.
- Lay it out first on the floor and make sure you have it lined up correctly.
- Follow her little list of directions. Dominika sends you a little sheet with your tips, follow them!
- Use a plastic scrapper to help remove any bubbles.
- Use an exacto knife to cut around your outlets
- Find a hanging buddy so you can smooth out bubbles as they pull the paper back
The final look.
Noelle’s bedroom turned out better than I could of ever hoped for. I chose the Bright Vintage wallpaper for her room and it’s gorgeous. Whenever someone comes to our house the rave over that wallpaper. The colors are gorgeous and the perfect girly pop in her room. I would 100% use removable wallpaper again and in fact I already have big plans to!
Here is a short time-lapse video of us hanging the wallpaper…as you can see no husbands were harmed in the process.
